Casa Madre is a non-profit organisation. It aims to achieve a wide spectrum of goals through the practice of economic enterprises for social benefit and through activities of any kind that can promote the improvement in the quality of people’s lives. It aims to do this by encouraging the development of the human personality in all its noble expressions of balance, tolerance and integration, so embracing the pluralism of cultures and solidarity among peoples thereby creating universal peace and inner well-being. It also exemplifies the protection and enhancement of the historical, artistic and cultural traditions of every part of the world as well as of nature and the environment.
Its goal is the realisation of the teachings of Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi indicated in the system she developed and called Sahaja Yoga. This practice, appreciated all over the world in many different fields, from schools, communities, arts and sports, generates improvement from the micro to the macro environments in which one lives and works. The starting point of this process is the transformation of the individual and so enhance the level of well-being.
Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, knowing that the harmonious development of humanity depends on inner balance and self-knowledge, worked her whole life for the transformation of individuals to build a better society. She emphasised that if we do not have peace within us we cannot give peace to the world.
The headquarters of Casa Madre is located in Val Borbera, Italy. It is an idyllic river valley of lush forest, surrounded by mountains and pristine nature. It is an area of peace and tranquillity and ideal for meditation, self-discovery and promoting well-being; a place where people can appreciate and respect the environment, nature and their fellow human beings. Casa Madre intends to work for the social and civil education that gives universal well-being of the body, mind and spirit, focusing especially on young people and people engaged in teaching, preventing and remedying conditions of psycho-physical discomfort of people.
Casa Madre, in order to contribute in the best way possible to achieve its social goals, cooperates with public and private bodies, businesses and third sector organizations, on a local, national and international scale.
Casa Madre also intends to achieve its social goals through the involvement of the active resources of the communities, the volunteers, the consumer of its services, public and private bodies, universities, schools and companies.
